Get to Know the Man Behind the Gloves
Balraj Singh Khara is a British professional boxer competing in the super middleweight division. Born on 17th September 1995 in Chichester, West Sussex, and raised in Feltham, London, Balraj represents the strength and resilience of British South Asian athletes. He comes from a proud Sikh family of third-generation Indian heritage — with roots in Punjab and parents born in Singapore and England.
Born with a hearing impairment, Balraj has never allowed his disability to define him. Instead, it has become one of his biggest strengths — helping him develop extraordinary focus and mental clarity inside the ring.
Balraj’s journey in combat sports began with karate at a young age, followed by kickboxing at 16. It wasn’t until the age of 21 that he transitioned into boxing, quickly proving himself with a victorious amateur debut in 2017 in Chichester. After building experience through amateur fights and training at Westside Boxing Gym in Hounslow, he turned professional in 2022. His pro debut came on 27th March 2022 at York Hall, where he defeated Frane Radnic.
“My hearing loss is not a weakness — it's my superpower.”
